About the Project
PANDA platforma is part of the long-established club and cultural scene at Kulturbrauerei in Prenzlauer Berg. Changes in the neighborhood and the conversion of rental apartments into expensive condominiums increasingly led to conflicts with local residents. PANDA platforma was also affected.

Initial Situation
At the beginning of 2018, the club was warned by its landlord because of noise complaints about events. Since then, the club had been under increased scrutiny and had to significantly reduce its program. Measures were therefore needed to better reduce noise and allow the club to operate normally again.

Measures

1. Soundproof Windows and Doors:
At the beginning of July 2020, modern soundproof windows and doors with insulating glass were installed. The existing doors and windows were also improved to reduce the amount of sound escaping outside.
Selecting suitable windows and doors was particularly challenging because Kulturbrauerei is a listed historic site.

2. Soundproof Curtains:
Special soundproof curtains were also installed. They help reduce particularly high-pitched sounds. They also ensure that less sound escapes outside when the entrance door is opened.

3. New Seals:
The seals between the door and window frames were replaced. This allows the doors and windows to close more tightly and reduces the amount of sound escaping outside.

Result
An independent measurement showed that sound could be reduced by around 45 dB at a frequency of 1 kHz. Thanks to these measures, PANDA platforma can continue its program without the restrictions it previously faced
