About the Project
The Sisyphos Event GmbH is located on the site of a former dog biscuit factory in Berlin-Rummelsburg. Over time, various indoor and outdoor areas have developed across the extensive site.

Initial Situation
When events first began at the site, the surrounding area was characterized by an industrial environment. As new residential buildings were built increasingly close to the site, this led to more and more complaints about noise from the sound system during operation of the open-air floor.
Concerts could only take place to a limited extent, and club events were only possible with a special permit. As a result, it was not possible to operate the venue economically while also taking the surrounding neighborhood into account.

Measures
The measure was largely implemented by the Berlin-based company Audiophil Berlin.

1. Directional Sound System
A directional sound system was installed on the Strand Floor. It makes it possible to focus sound emissions on the desired areas. In addition, the direction of the sound system was changed to further reduce sound reaching the surrounding neighborhood.

2. New Stage Area and Low-Frequency Sound Reinforcement
For the new setup, a stage area was created above an existing pond. The low-frequency sound reinforcement was integrated into this structure as a cardioid, horizontal line.

3. Sound Absorber
In the rear area of the directional sound system, the boundary surface was covered with a sound absorber specially adapted to the building surface. This is intended to reduce sound reflections across the entire frequency range.

Result
The directional sound system makes it possible to focus sound more precisely on the desired areas. The new setup and the sound absorber are intended to help reduce the spread of sound towards the residential buildings located closer to the site.
