ART LINERS
About the Project
ARTliners Berlin is a venue for art, music and culture in Berlin-Friedrichshain. It hosts art exhibitions, live concerts and other events.
Initial Situation
For an extended period of time, there were complaints from the surrounding neighborhood about events at the venue. The stage area and adjacent parts of the building were identified as particular sources of sound. The soundproofing measures were important to secure the long-term continuation of live music at the venue.
Measures
1. Soundproofing in the Stage Area
The stage was rebuilt and structurally separated from the surrounding building elements. The stage equipment was also installed with vibration isolation.
2. Soundproofing of Walls and Ceilings
The ceiling and adjacent walls were fitted with additional soundproofing structures. Other areas of the event space and a window facing the rear courtyard were also soundproofed.
3. Soundproofing Vestibules and Doors
A new sound-reducing partition wall with a soundproof door and several soundproofing vestibules were installed.
4. Ventilation
A new ventilation system was installed and structurally separated from the soundproof ceiling. This makes it easier to keep the event space closed during events.
Result
The soundproofing measures led to a noticeable improvement in the situation. Since the measures were implemented, there have been no new complaints to the public order office. The neighborhood also noticed a clear improvement. The measures therefore made an important contribution to securing the future of live music at the venue.
