Remise

About the project
The Remise is a club and cultural venue in Berlin. Due to the low-frequency bass produced during events, there had repeatedly been conflicts with neighbours, as the bass could be heard and felt through the walls and ceilings of the building.

Measures

1. Installation of a bass floor
To reduce noise pollution caused by low-frequency sounds, a bass floor was installed. This innovative technology transmits the bass directly to the dancers instead of relying solely on loudspeakers that distribute sound in all directions.
The bass is therefore experienced directly on the dance floor, while the amount of low-frequency sound emitted into the surrounding building can be reduced.

Result
Since the installation of the bass floor, complaints from the neighbourhood have decreased significantly. At the same time, guests can experience the bass more intensely through their own bodies.
The measure therefore helps to keep the bass where it belongs – on the dance floor – rather than transmitting it to the neighbouring apartments.
