TRESOR

About the project
Tresor is a Berlin club for electronic music and has been located in the former power plant on Köpenicker Straße in Berlin-Mitte since 2007. The club is known for its distinctive industrial atmosphere and its long history as part of Berlin’s club culture.
Initial situation
Tresor is located in a general residential area. Following complaints about noise levels, an acoustic assessment was carried out in cooperation with the K5 acoustics office. The entrance area was identified as the main area requiring improvement: because the club door was frequently left open, sound from the club could escape to the outside. The aim was to significantly reduce these sound emissions.
Measures
1. Sound Lock in the Entrance Area
A sound lock was constructed in the entrance area. The walls and ceiling were fitted with acoustic absorbers with a steel-look finish.
2. Additional Soundproofing Wall
An additional soundproofing wall was installed in the ticket area.
3. Soundproof Doors
Self-closing soundproof doors were installed at all entrances to the sound lock. Fire safety requirements and the overall design of the entrance area were also taken into account.

Result
The planned measures were fully implemented without any difficulties. The sound lock is particularly noticeable when entering and leaving the club and effectively reduces sound escaping from the club.
